A+ After School

Welcome to the Cutting Edge Tae Kwon Do
A+ After School Martial Arts Program (AMP).

Children, grades K-8, are transported from school every day by our professional drivers.  Each day, children learn about Leadership Skills, Focus, Integrity, Self-Confidence, Self-Defense & MUCH, MUCH MORE!!!

The AMP is not a day care. It is a week-to-week, year around program that is an alternative to daycare or babysitting. The purpose of this program is to give parents an attractive alternative to traditional day care, where children can learn martial arts and martial arts related values, while providing a safe environment until their parents get off work.

The AMP not only operates on school days but on teachers' in-service days, spring break, winter break and even summer camps. Cutting Edge Tae Kwon Do will pick up the children after school (Geyser Rd., Division St., Lake Ave., Caroline St., Greenfield, Waldorf School and now Dorothy Nolan Middle School!!!) and they will be brought to the Dojang (Studio). Once at the Dojang, they will have snack and drink time, engage in a learning activity, a physical activity, train in Tae Kwon Do,  as well as have a quiet time for a few minutes at the end, where children can have the option to complete thier homework or participate in creative writing or drawing exercises.

We are specialists in the field of martial arts; teaching school-age children to ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE physically and mentally. The daily Martial Arts classes will provide your child with a character building education and will help him/her to build confidence, learn self-defense, improve their grades and increase self-discipline.

We have trained enthusiastic, caring staff and our teaching method is sensitively tailored to meet the needs of individual learning differences.

Our program is the answer to your child's after-school needs. While providing your child with a fun and exciting martial art experience, we provide a structured environment where the children can develop respect, discipline, character, coordination, flexibility, strength, agility, speed, sportsmanship, leadership, peace of mind, self-confidence, winning spirit, mind and body harmony.

Why pay for babysitting when your child can learn structure, discipline, manners, Martial Arts, and have lots of fun?

OUR PROGRAM CAN IMPROVE YOUR FAMILY'S LIFE!!!

 A+ AFTER SCHOOL
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is the After School Martial Arts Program?
A: It is a program which offers many of the conveniences of day care and the benefits of martial arts training.

Q: Is this a Day Care?
A: This is nothing like a Day Care.  This is a Martial Arts Leadership Program.  The only similarity is that children come directly from school so that parents do not have to rush to get home every day.  Our program is designed to teach children Martial Arts and the values associated with Martial Arts.

Q: How does it work?
A: We pick your child after school and transport him/her to our school. They have snack time, game time, a martial arts class followed by a quiet time for reading, homework or general winding down before being picked up by parents. As an added bonus, on school in service days and some holidays where parents work, our school is open from 8:30 AM so that you can have your child here at the school while you work.

Q: What are the benefits of martial arts training?
A: Self confidence, self control, self respect, respect for others and manners as well as increased ability to concentrate and take responsibility for his or her actions. Parents have found that martial arts training has a direct relationship with improvement of their children's school grades.

Q: How many times a week do they train?
A: Children can attend up to 5 times per week if necessary.  We do however have children that come 3 or 4 times a week as well if there are prior commitments on certain days

Q: How late do the children stay at the school?
A: The latest pick up time is 5:30 PM with a grace period of 15 minutes. You may, however, pick your child up before then if you wish.

Q: What Elementary Schools do you pick up from?
A: Guyser Rd., Division St., Lake Ave. & Caroline St.

Q: How do you treat children with ADHD or ADD?
A: Like any other child. We feel that children who have an abundance of energy or who haven't developed their concentration yet get these abilities through martial arts training. Energetic children learn to channel their energy and children who let their attention wander learn to focus and concentrate. With martial arts, this can be accomplished without medication or drugs.

Q: What experience do you have with children?
A: I have been working with children since I was a child myself.  I began learning to become an martial arts instructor when I was 12 years old.  I also spent 3 years a Behaviorist for adults with developmental disibilities.  My job duties included implementing Behavioral Modification Programs to individuals with behavioral difficulties.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: As little as $69.99 per week in our Year 'Round Program.

Q: When can my child start the program?
A: Your child can start right away.  We are more that happy to allow your child to try the program for a couple of days to see if it is the right fit.

A comment from one of our parents...

Hi Brian –

My son ______ has been coming to your “Little Ninja’s” class for about 4 weeks now and I just have to tell you what a wonderful service you offer and that you are just fantastic with those kids!  I think the class is so well run given that there is group activity and some individual attention too.  The messages you give to those kids and the things you teach them in your “chat’s” are great.  I love that you can take some very “grown up” topics and speak their language so that they are engaged and inspired.

I was joking with your mom the other day that I now have the “Mr. Miller bribe”….when _______starts getting fresh or is not so courteous I ask him what you teach in class and whether his behavior falls in line with that…it works quite a bit of the time…other times I just remember…he’s four & I’m 34 and I am still working on being courteous!

He wakes up & asks if he is going to class that day –he loves it.  I now know that Tae Kwon Do is so much more than kicks & blocks and you do a great job covering it all in the perfect time frame for kids that young.  I hope _______ stays as excited about what he is learning as he is right now.  You should be so proud of the influence you are providing for so many J  Take care – Sincerely – Sara
